About SMarth

Not everyone cares about their data security, but we do.

Data breaches are common, and can be life ruining for many people who are the victims of identity theft.

Cloud services not only require a functioning internet connection, meaning that in an emergency, you may lose access to your heating, your door locks, or your ability to turn on the lights.

With large companies being notorious for shutting down projects, your investment into a name brand home automation system like Amazon’s Alexa, Google Home, or Apple Homekit could end up being a large pile of useless e-waste.

Your home automation server should sit in your home, only allowing access to your habits, your location, and your conversations to yourself and your family.

How we Keep You Safe

We make sure that every installation is fully capable of running without internet access, and can be set up to run without power if needed. All of our devices use open-source standards that are not at the mercy of large tech companies, and will continue to function for their entire lives.

Our maintenance agreements allow us to remotely manage your smart home server via a direct VPN connection to our offices. We collect no tracking, analytics or other data – only encrypted remote backups when needed.

Backups are kept on-location in our offices, with offsite backups in a second privately-owned location. None of your data is ever stored in the cloud, your data belongs to you.

As part of our maintenance agreement, we sign a legally binding NDA that prevents Smarth LLC from ever sharing any of your data with any third party for any purpose whatsoever. In addition to this, your backup data is encrypted by a password that only you know.

But I want to use Google Home / Amazon Alexa / Apple Home

Not a problem!

We will do our best to make sure that your smart home setup will continue to work while offline, but can not guarantee functionality long-term.

Open source and off-the-shelf sensors and components are never as refined or easy to use as large vendor-specific hardware, so we understand that many people would prefer to use a large existing ecosystem, we won’t judge.
